WESG African Qualifiers Revealed – Signups Now Open!

The time has come to finally reveal the details for the Southern and Northern African regional qualifiers for WESG!

Founded in 2016, WESG is currently running its 2nd season in 2017. The most important difference with other tournaments is the concept of “one-nation teams”, which means that players from one country can participate in one team. These circumstances make for an interesting tournament for the audience, who can cheer for their favourite player or their own country. This also makes it interesting for the players, as they have an opportunity to try new mixes and unexpected rosters. Sign-ups will soon be opened for African players across all regions, and comes with the chance to win a trip for you or your team to attend the WESG World Finals in China. The offline qualifiers will be separated into two regions, Northern and Southern Africa, with each region getting just one qualifier spot each. Please check the attachment to see which region your country belongs to.

The first matches are due to start in early 2018, although the actual dates will vary depending on your sub-region. To find out all the nitty-gritty details you need to know, make sure to head here to find the information you need.

Qualifiers will be played for four titles, the games being:

  • Dota 2
  • CS:GO
  • StarCraft 2
  • Hearthstone
WESG Titles

Here is a brief outline of the African Qualifiers:

  • 18 – 21 January: CS:GO and StarCraft 2 Southern African Qualifiers
  • 25 – 28 January: Dota 2 and Hearthstone Southern African Qualifiers
  • 1 – 4 February: Dota 2 and Hearthstone Northern African Qualifiers
  • 8-11 February: CS:GO and StarCraft 2 Northern African Qualifiers

The Online qualifier spots will be given as follows:

  • Southern Africa – 1 Qualifier Spot
  • Northern Africa – 1 Qualifier spot

The WESG qualifiers have already been in full swing in certain parts of the world. Flash and New4 for example have already qualified for StarCraft 2 in China, while popular Eastern side ViCi Gaming has already claimed the Dota 2 spot and a direct invite to the World Finals. Players and teams taking part in the qualifiers also have a chance to make some money while doing what they love, as there are $10,000 dollars up for grabs as part of the African Qualifiers. This prize pool is split into $5,000 respectively for the North and South portions of the qualifier.

Qualifying for the World Finals gives you a chance to take part in the $5,500,000 dollar tournament. With so few spots available, only the best will make it through to the World Final, so there is no better time to start practicing and get your team entered into one of the largest esports events in the world!
